Avast, ye! that Hauraki Gulf, a buried treasure, there did be, arrrr...
Media Release – 5 October 2009
The winning co-ordinates for Fullers $50,000 Treasure Hunt have been unveiled. The promotion took place from August to September and for every purchase of $5 or more on food and beverage at Fullers on board cafés, customers were given the opportunity to guess the coordinates of the $50,000 buried treasure.
To enter the competition, customers needed to guess two co-ordinates between 0 and 1000, where they thought the treasure was sunk or hidden in the Hauraki Gulf e.g. 463 North and 721 East, and if they picked the right coordinates they would win $50,000! (Insured by Odds on Promotion).
Of the 1,336 entries, some came very close to choosing the correct coordinates, but unfortunately the treasure was not found. 811 North and 116 East marked the “X” spot and Gary Senior from Ellerslie had the closest guess, 840 North and 110 East.
Gary didn’t walk away totally empty handed; though disappointed perhaps at not winning the $50,000 cheque, he was still appreciative of the tickets for two, to enjoy the popular Fullers Taste of Waiheke Tour, and also the presentation of a book on Pirateology as a consolation prize. Not a guarantee, but maybe with the help of his new book, his future treasure hunting adventures will have him striking gold…Congratulations Gary, you have been crowned the 2009 honorary Fullers Pirate, arrrrrrr…
