FULLERS CONTINUES TO SERVE ITS BAYSWATER AND HALF MOON BAY PASSENGERS
Media Release – 23 December, 2008
Fullers said today it was delighted to be awarded a new contract for the Bayswater and Half Moon Bayferry services it has run since 1997 and 1999 respectively.
Fullers this month took part in a competitive tender process for the Bayswater and Half Moon Bay ferry services, following its decision in mid-October to give 90-days' notice on the routes. This notice was given reluctantly, following more than 15 months of operating the services in good faith and without a formal contract.
“We are delighted with the outcome, and look forward to continuing to provide these services to our valued and loyal customers. We are pleased that their ferry services will continue uninterrupted with Fullers,” says Douglas Hudson, GM Fullers Group.
The new contract will take effect from 16 January.
Mr Hudson said Fullers' experience in running Bayswater and Half Moon Bay ferries had stood the company in good stead.
“Twenty years ago, Fullers recognised an opportunity to grow the ferry service in the Auckland Harbour. It worked with the ARC of the day to establish the services and took the commercial risk by investing in boats and wharves,” says Mr Hudson. “Over the years we have continued investing in new boats and in customer service enhancements to constantly improve the ferry experience for our customers.”
“We have demonstrated our commitment to ongoing innovation,” Mr Hudson says. “Many of our innovations are now industry base line customer service standards. These include the provision of SMS texting services, ticket vending on board and café/bar facilities for our peak commuter customers. We stand by andare proud of the service we provide our customers and are committed to continually raise the bar.”
The new contract will provide a seamless transition of services. This includes the continuation of the existing range of services Fullers currently offers on these routes, including berthage, wharf access and maintenance, terminal ticketing, managing the hub, security, customer communications, text alert service and back-up vessels.
