FULLERS FLEET CONTINUES TO GROW
Media release – January 18, 2008
The newest addition to Fullers Group’s ferry fleet has cruised into Auckland overnight. The $2million high-speed catamaran, named ‘Wanderer’, has been bought from leading Tasmanian tourism company, World Heritage Cruises Tasmania, which provides cruises along the world famous Gordon River. The new vessel is the sister ship of ‘Adventurer’, which joined the Fullers fleet last year and has proved a popular addition.
Combined, the two ferries bring Fullers’ investment in its fleet over the past year to $5million.
“At Fullers we are always looking to continuously improve our service. We believe that while ferries already provide a great service within the Auckland transport sector, in the future we can expand even further.
“This investment over the past year demonstrates our commitment to Auckland, and we hope our passengers enjoy travelling on Wanderer as much as they have Adventurer,” says Fullers CEO, Douglas Hudson.
‘Wanderer’, which is 24m long, has a capacity of 200 passengers. With air conditioning, and a modern and spacious interior, it promises to be an upmarket addition to the Fullers family.
‘Wanderer’ will operate on the peak Birkenhead services, along with Rangitoto and the Harbour Cruise. Its arrival should enhance all inner harbour routes by allowing Fullers to redeploy its ferries and ensure they are each serviced by the most appropriate vessels.
