Waiheke Island Customer Update 8/12/16

While we’re still working diligently to get the situation sorted, I want to give you a quick update on our progress towards improvements on the Waiheke Island service.

Luckily, the maintenance on Quickcat this week has gone according to plan. She’ll undergo sea trials at 8.00 am tomorrow (9 December), and will be back in service immediately upon passing her survey inspection – potentially as early as tomorrow morning.

However, Superflyte’s engine failure means she remains out of service. We’re aggressively continuing our investigation into the suitability of the replacement engine we located in Europe.  We hope to have more clarification tomorrow, and will keep you updated.

This morning, I travelled to Waiheke Island and had a productive meeting with the Tourism Forum and spoke with various other business owners. I actively listened to their concerns, and in turn, explained in more detail the complexities of the situation we’re currently facing. All of us at Fullers appreciate the severity of the situation, and how it’s affecting Waiheke residents, businesses and tourists.

Beyond maintenance efforts to ensure the safety of Quickcat and Superflyte, the team have been actively pursuing other solutions to manage the influx of passengers to Waiheke. We’re hours away from commissioning our newest vessel, Korora, who will be put into service imminently. Further, we’re exploring options for chartering vessels from other sources, both offshore and within New Zealand.

Please be assured that we’re pulling out all the stops to rectify the situation as soon as possible. We’ll continue to keep you posted, and share news as soon as we have it. Thank you again for your patience.
