Overview

Birkenhead is a suburb of Auckland located on the North Shore, four kilometres northwest of the city's CBD. Well known areas within the district include: Birkenhead Point, Highbury, Chatswood, Verrans Corner, Birkdale and Beach Haven.

Travel Alerts for Birkenhead

Northcote Point ferry services will not resume on Monday 25 January

Due to a combination of adverse weather conditions and supplier delays, ferry services at Northcote Point will not re-commence on Monday 25 January.  A new date will be advised by Auckland Transport as soon as possible. 

Alternative transport for Northcote Point ferry passengers has been arranged.

The Birkenhead service will proceed on the new timetable and will not include a stop at Northcote Point until further notice.

Timetable changes to Hobsonville Point and Birkenhead from Monday, 25 January 2021

Please be advised that weekday Hobsonville passengers will now have access to an additional two morning sailings and two new afternoon sailings starting from Monday, 25 January 2021.

Weekend sailing times will remain the same for both locations.
