Overview

If you’ve ever wondered what ancient Aotearoa must have sounded like, you now have the chance to hear for yourself. Spring is the very best time to come and listen and with a little luck, the kōkako will be part of the dawn chorus.

  • Tickets are $95 per person and includes your guide for the morning

  • Ferry departs Gulf Harbour at 5am returning at 11am

  • Book your ticket online or call us on 09 367 9111

  • Numbers are limited, so early bookings are essential

Please note: Ferry will depart from Gulf Harbour only. There is not an option to depart from Auckland

Timetable

  • 5:00 am – Ferry departs Gulf Harbour

  • 5:30am –  Event start time

  • 10:30 am – Return walk to ferry

  • 11:00 am - Ferry departs Tiritiri Matangi

What to bring

  • Bring your breakfast and water - tea and coffee will be provided. There are no food outlets on the island
  • Bring a torch
  • Warm clothes and wet weather gear
  • There are no rubbish bins on pest-free islands. Please remember to take all your rubbish, including leftover food, off the island with you

Visiting a Pest Free Island

We’re proud to support the Department of Conservation (DOC) and Auckland Council’s joint ‘Treasure Island’ initiative. Our vessels undergo strict inspections so we are licensed to visit conservation islands and hold a ‘Pest-Free Warrant’ that recognises our commitment to biosecurity standards.
