What time should I arrive?

Please arrive 30 to 45 minutes prior to your ferry departure to meet your guide.

What do the Rangitoto Island tours include?

Both tours include a Rangitoto Island Return Ferry and an accredited kaiārahi (guide) from Tapuwae Tours, which is owned by Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki, the island's original Māori inhabitants. The eBike tour also includes your eBike, a helmet, gloves, elbow and knee pads, and a pannier bag for your belongings. The guided walk includes walking poles to support you along the way.

Which tour is right for me?

If you want to cover more ground, the eBike tour takes you across both Rangitoto and Motutapu, with around 25km of riding and 5km of walking. The guided walk focuses on Rangitoto, covering around 8km on foot through volcanic landscapes and pōhutukawa forest

Where does my ferry depart from in Downtown Auckland?

The Rangitoto Island ferry departs from 13/14 at the Downtown Auckland Ferry Terminal. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the time on your ticket to meet your guide and to make sure you're on time for your tour.

What should I bring?

There are no shops or cafes on Rangitoto, so bring plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, a hat and a light jacket. Comfortable closed-toe shoes are a must, as the tracks are rough volcanic rock. On the eBike tour, you can store your personal items in the pannier bag on your bike.

Are children allowed on the tour?

Guests must be aged 16 or older for the eBike tour and 16 or older for the guided walk.

Will there be others on the tour with me?

Yes, this is a shared tour open to the public, so you'll be travelling with other guests.
