Introducing Priority tickets
Priority tickets are the next step up from Standard Walk-up tickets (previously known as Waiheke Walk-up). Priority tickets give you the confidence of a booked, sailing, plus access to our dedicated Priority Lane at Downtown Auckland and Matiatia. Book the sailing that suits your plans, arrive ready to travel and board first, with access to the first choice of available seating.
We'll pre-scan your ticket before boarding begins, so when it's time to board, you can head straight onto the ferry. Whether you're heading over for a long lunch, a vineyard visit, a tour or a weekend away, Priority helps your day start exactly as you planned.
Priority at a glance:
- Available on all regular Waiheke Island sailings from Monday 19 October 2026
- Return tickets are $75 for adults, $32 for children or $155 for a family. Children under 5 are free.
- One-way fares are available at $37.50 for an adult, $16 for a child
- The Priority Lane closes 10 minutes before departure, so we recommend arriving 15 to 20 minutes before your sailing
- Already have a Standard Walk-up ticket? Currently you can upgrade to Priority before you travel at one of our POS sites at the wharf at Downtown Auckland or Matiatia. Ask a staff member for assistance if you would like to upgrade your journey.
Waiheke Walk-up is now Standard Walk-up
Our Waiheke Walk-up ticket has a new name, but nothing else is changing. Standard Walk-up remains our best-value, most flexible way to travel. Simply turn up and board the next available sailing, and your ticket is valid for 12 months.
Standard Walk-up and Priority customers travel on the same ferry, so now, you can choose the ticket that suits your day.
A boarding upgrade for residents
From Monday 19 October, the Residents' Lane becomes the Priority Lane. Resident card holders can use the Priority Lane free of charge on all regular sailings, all day, not just during the busy visitor season. The Priority Lane fully boards before the Standard Walk-up Lane opens, so you'll board first. For more information, please see our customer updates on our new Priority Lane.
Waiheke Reserve
For those who want the journey to be part of the experience, Waiheke Reserve remains our premium service, with a bookable sailing and a guaranteed seat on its own dedicated ferry. From 19 October, Reserve will run one return trip each day, out to Waiheke Island and back to Auckland.
Choose Standard Walk-up when flexibility matters most, Priority when you want a set ferry time and to board first, or Reserve when you want the journey to be part of the experience.
