Overview

Senior citizens can travel for free on selected Fullers and 360 Discovery ferry services in Auckland, after 9am weekdays and all day weekends and public holidays with an AT HOP card loaded with a SuperGold public transport concession.

In 2015, the Government announced a change to the SuperGold Card with respect to the public transport concession. You are now no longer able to use your SuperGold card to travel on public transport in Auckland. Instead, you can use a registered AT HOP card loaded with your SuperGold public transport concession.

The SuperGold* public transport concession applies to travel after 9am weekdays, and all day weekends and public holidays to the following destinations:

  • Devonport
  • Waiheke Island
  • Stanley Bay
  • Bayswater
  • Birkenhead/Northcote Point
  • Half Moon Bay

  • You cannot use your card if have been asked to send it back and/or have been sent a new card.

How to get a SuperGold public transport concession

New Zealanders who have a valid SuperGold card will need to do the following in order to travel for free on Auckland public transport services:

  • Purchase a gold AT HOP card.
  • Register your gold AT HOP card. You can register your gold AT HOP card online or by post.
  • Apply and load a SuperGold public transport concession onto your gold AT HOP card online or at a customer service centre.

Gold AT HOP cards are available for sale at all AT HOP retailers except online and excludes prepay AT HOP cards sold at New World, PAK’nSAVE and Four Square stores. View list of retailers here.

Important: Remember, the card does not come with the concession on it after you buy it, therefore you can load the concession separately, after purchase.
