Visiting Waiheke Island this Easter - FAQ's
You might be planning some time on Waiheke Island over Easter, here’s some quick information to help you make the most of your time on the Island.
Yes, we strongly recommend booking your ferry to Waiheke in advance for Easter weekend, as sailings can sell out, especially during peak travel times.
Fullers360 operates both bookable and Walk Up Ferry Services which gives you the flexibility to plan how it best suits you. Easter weekend will be a busy time on the water, so we recommend planning your ferry travel in advance to make the most of your long weekend.
The Waiheke Reserve - For Easter you may want the certainty of having a seat allocated to you and if you want to skip the queue then we would recommend booking the Waiheke Reserve
The Waiheke Reserve ferry offers a premium travel experience, allowing you to secure your preferred dates and times in advance. With bookable tickets you can enjoy peace of mind knowing their journey is confirmed, eliminating any uncertainty.
The Waiheke Walk Up - For those who have more flexible travel plans you can take the Waiheke Walk-up which is our hourly ferry service between Auckland and Matiatia. If you decide on the Walk-up, we recommend arriving an hour before your desired sailing as queues can get long during these busier periods.
Book your ferry today and secure your seat
We anticipate high demand for our Waiheke Walk-up Ferry service over Easter weekend, particularly on Good Friday between 11am and 8pm with the Waiheke Jazz Festival, Fullers360 Good Friday Groove event at Allpress Olive Groves.
Do your best to travel off-peak when it’s less busy. If you plan to leave Auckland between 9am and 12pm, or leave Waiheke Island between 3pm and 8pm, it will be busy, and we expect long queues. If you can, avoid these travel times so that you can make the most of your time on the Island. If you can’t travel during off-peak times, we recommend arriving at the ferry terminal at least 60 minutes before your preferred sailing. Alternatively you can secure your spot on a Waiheke Reserve sailing for Good Friday.
With school holidays on, The Waiheke Jazz and Blues Festival plus Aucklanders’ making the most of the Easter holidays, Waiheke will be busier than usual especially around the busy centres like Oneroa and Onetangi and other venues operating on the island.
If you are planning on visiting wineries and venues we would recommend booking ahead of time or calling ahead to ensure they are open. Please also keep in mind that with the Easter holidays some venues may operate on reduced opening hours.
The Waiheke Reserve - $99 return
The Waiheke Walk Up - $62 return

Yes they are running normally.
We have just moved to our off-peak timetable for our Waiheke Walk-Up ferry service, however this is still a high frequency timetable. We put this in place annually at the end of our busy peak season. You can view the timetable here.
What this means:
- Walk-Up ferries will now operate on our off-peak timetable between Auckland and Waiheke Island; with commuter/regular travellers 30 minutes frequency at peak times;
- Our Waiheke Reserve sailings can still be booked in advance giving you early boarding with minimal queuing
We encourage customers to check for updates to sailing times and/or to our other products/services before travelling, on our Fullers360 app, website and social channels and keep an eye out for further service updates.
