Our island destinations are incredibly popular at this time of year with both locals and visitors alike. We’ve put together some tips to help make your trip as smooth and enjoyable as possible:
Especially for trips to Waiheke. We recommend arriving up to 40 mins before your desired departure time to avoid missing your first-choice sailing.
There may be long lines to board, especially on Waiheke sailings. Please be patient, our staff are working hard to minimise the wait times.
Travel outside of peak times
Have a think about the time you’re travelling. If you don’t have a specific time to arrive at your destination, why not travel earlier or later in the day.
When possible, pre-purchase your tickets online or at one of our ticket offices well before your sailing. This saves you from having to stand in line twice on your day of travel. Our tours sell out fast.
Save some money
If you know you’re travelling over the holiday period, purchase your tickets now before our visitor prices increase for 9-week high peak season from 21 December – 28 February.
Pack your essentials
Remember to bring your sunblock, sun hat, bottled water and any medications you may require for your trip.
Hop on Hop off Explorer Tour
For those travelling to Waiheke, save money and grab your Hop on Hop off tour ticket with your ferry pass. These coaches are the best way to get around the island, stopping at major landmarks around the island including beaches and the top vineyards.
Travel to Coromandel and Rotoroa
Please note that these sailings require you to check in prior to boarding. Check-in closes 15mins before your scheduled departure so please allow plenty of time.
Long queues can be frustrating for everyone - please be kind to our staff who are working hard to get you to where you need to be.
Love thy Neighbour
We all like a bit of space on board the ferry, however when it’s busy we ask that bags are placed on the floor or luggage racks and not on seats, so others can sit down. That way everyone can have a comfortable trip.
Complete the biosecurity checklist
If you’re travelling to a pest free island, you’ll need to check your gear for stowaway pests, ensure your bags are sealed and clean your shoes. Please make sure you understand what you need to do before you go and allow plenty of time before you depart to complete these biosecurity checks.
