On 18 May, join us on Tiritiri Matangi Island for a rare opportunity to climb the oldest working lighthouse in New Zealand. Plus, while on the island, you’ll experience New Zealand’s finest and oldest heritage – its unique birds!

Historic Day Details

Saturday 18 May

  • 9:00am – Ferry departs Auckland for Tiritiri Matangi Island (via Gulf Harbour at 9.50am)
  • Opportunity to explore Tiritiri Matangi at your own pace, and join your pre-booked Lighthouse tour (booking instructions below)
  • 4:00pm – Ferry departs Tiritiri Matangi Island

Book you Lighthouse Tour
Climb Tiritiri Matangi Lighthouse to see and hear the only working Diaphonic Foghorn operating in New Zealand. It has a truly awesome sound! The restored Watchtower and Maritime Museum will also be open, so you can see beautifully restored weather recording and signalling equipment.
